Product Photography FAQ's

How to we get started?

The first step is to contact me for a free consultation and estimate. In order to accurately estimate the cost, I will need to know what type of products you need photographed and how many images you will need. I also need to know whether you are interested in a Basic White or a Custom photo shoot. Once we come up with an estimate you are comfortable with, you will ship your products to my Southern Vermont studio, and I will begin shooting.

Will I get my products back when you are finished?

Yes! As soon as I have finished photographing your products and you are satisfied, I will ship them back to you.

Will they be returned in the same condition they are sent?

This depends on the product. For example, when photographing bath and body products or food items it is sometimes necessary for me to open the containers or style the products in a way that alters them permanently. Occasionally, I will need to use styling aids like tape or modeling clay to get items to stay put. Please let me know before starting if your products need to be returned in the same condition, and every measure will be taken to accomodate this request.

How long will it take?

It generally takes between 1-2 weeks from the time that I recieve your products to the day that I ship out your final CD of images.

What Equipment do you use?

The majority of my commercial work is done in my fully equiped studio. I use a 12 megapixel digital SLR camera and have a wide variety of professional quality lenses. This combination results in exremely high quality, detailed images that can be enlarged to poster size prints and beyond.

What file formats will be provided?

Your final CD will contain a high resolution JPEG (300dpi) for print and a low resolution (72dpi) JPEG for web use. TIFF's are available upon request.

Who owns the copyright?

As the artist, the copyright belongs to me. This gives me the rights to use the images I take to promote my business and my services. It is possible that an image I take for you will be seen on my website or in an advertisement for my services. Photos I take for you will never be sold or transferred to a third party.

When you commission me for a job, you are purchasing an unlimited, exclusive license to use those images for the promotion of your own business. You can not alter the images or transfer them to a third party without my permission (ask me, I'll usually say yes).

Do you do work on location?

Absolutely! I am willing to travel anywhere I'm needed. Please contact me for rates.
